Biomechanics is the study of human motion. The study of biomechanics is important when determining what causes injuries. Therefore assessing an individual’s biomechanics can allow for effective treatment and prevention of pain and dysfunction. Biomechanical assessment is not just important in elite athletes as biomechanical dysfunctions are a major cause of injury in both sporty and sedentary people of all ages.
At Balbriggan Physiotherapy clinic our physiotherapists are professionally trained to detect biomechanical faults. They will use a combination of treatment modalities to enable you to improve your biomechanics and resolve or prevent pain and dysfunction.
In some instances to support and enable good functional biomechanics orthotic devises are recommended. These may be off the shelf devices, with or out without additional supports such as wedges/raises or custom devices which are made in a laboratory using a casted impression, along with appropriate prescription as provided by your physiotherapist.
